Russian-born Tanya is a crimefighting powerhouse of a librarian on the mean streets (and bookshelves) of San Francisco, California, U.S.A. Don't let her dainty exterior fool you -- this dame is dynamite! She once took out a cadre of at least a dozen masked Mexican wrestler supervillains on her lunch break and still had time to eat her sandwich before heading back to tangle with another of her arch-nemeses: The Dewey Decimal system. "In Russia," she says, "we also have books, but they are written in crazy, Martian language! I am so glad to be in United States, where they use real letters and reading is much easier! But this Dewey Decimal system, it is sometimes making no sense!"

When Tanya's not saving the day from thought-criminals and ne'er-do-wells, she can often be found relaxing with one of the seven books she reads per day and dining on old soup in a quiet cafeteria away from the hustle and bustle of her fair city.
