Joan
Not giving a damn about her bad reputation, Joan's been rocking the collective ass of the (free?) world for more than a quarter of a century, and she thankfully shows no sign of letting up! A stunning specimen of womanhood to begin with, Joan's of the rare variety that somehow thumbs her nose at age and manages to look better every year instead of succumbing to the ravages of Father Time.
As an eternally youthful punk goddess, Joan's not afraid to sweat -- and she expects nothing less from her adoring fans. But that doesn't mean she ignores the more subtle things in life, either. "A lot has happened to me in the last couple of years, personally and spiritually." She said in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald. "I wanted to mark it for myself. I'm concentrating on staying healthy, having peace, being happy, remembering what is important, taking in nature and animals, spending time reading, trying to understand the universe, where science and the spiritual meet."
She loves rock and roll, and rock and roll loves her right on back. Having influenced hundreds, perhaps thousands of kids around the world to pick up instruments and start their own bands, she's worked with ex-Sex Pistols and even produced The Germs' earsplitting 1979 album, GI. Whether a Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-cherry Bomb or a Riot Grrrl, Joan's definitely no stranger to following her heart and staying true to the punk rock, Do-It-Yourself ethic she long ago helped pioneer. Guaranteed to always surprise us, we look forward to seeing what else she's got up her sleeve for the 21st Century.
Rock on, Joan! Please visit Joan's official site to keep tabs on this high priestess of punk and support her efforts to keep the world rocking!
